I booked Miriam for a three week trip around Uganda in December 2024. It was for three people family trip and our main focus was on birding, but we also wanted to see other wildlife including gorillas, chimps and safari.

Miriam arranged everything for us, so all we had to do was show up at the airport, which was amazing! Almost everything was included in our trip apart from a few dinners and lunch. Besides Miriam we also had our driver Moses with us for the whole time. He’s a great driver and we felt very safe in the car with him.

During our trip we visited multiple national parks in Uganda including Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi, Kibale and Lake Mburo. We saw over 300 bird species on our trip which was very exciting! At the different locations Miriam hired local birders who were excellent and helped us see many species we wouldn’t have by ourselves.

We also did two days gorilla trekking which was incredible and one day chimpanzee trekking.

Part way through the trip Miriam had to leave us for a week due to a family emergency and we continued the trip with just Moses. He did a great job continuing the trip, and although he is a very quiet person, he stepped it up to give us a great tour.

The accommodation we stayed at varied but overall we were very happy with the quality, highlights were in Murchison falls and breakfast by the waterfall and our lodge at Lake Mburo.

We felt very safe the whole time, despite the FAO travel advice to not visit parts of Uganda, and we had an excellent time. We found all of our target species including the shoebill, which was a challenge, but Miriam was determined to get it for us!

Miriam and Moses did a great job and we’d recommend them to anyone else planning a trip to Uganda.
